Radiography research

诊断 imaging and radiotherapy provide plentiful scope for research activity, in areas such as the efficacy of imaging methods, radiation dosimetry and cancer management. The fields are undergoing continual expansion within the UK.

Radiography research can be grouped within the four overarching themes of the allied health professions research:

  • Professional roles and development
  • Impact of education on clinical practice and workforce development
  • Maintaining well-being in health and disease
  • Application of skills in practice

Staff have contributed to key published radiographic textbooks, including radiographic physics and the only research methods book worldwide specifically aimed at diagnostic radiographers and radiotherapists.

The radiography research team has received over £100,000 in successful research grant applications in recent years, especially from the professional colleges.

A considerable number of MSc research projects have emanated from our postgraduate students in medical ultrasound, MRI and image interpretation. Many of these students have gone on to become key practitioners in their clinical fields.
